Coming to a Dealer Near You: The Aimpoint Carbine Optic (ACO)

Aimpoint Carbine Optic

In a recent press release, Aimpoint has announced their new “Aimpoint Carbine Optic”; a rugged and lightweight RDS designed to go from the box to your carbine in minutes with the included mount, which offers an “absolute co-witness”.  For those of us that prefer the “lower 1/3 co-witness” the optic is 30mm, so I would bet that users will be able to use any number of the quality after-market mounting options available from Larue, Daniel Defense, etc.  The dot is a crisp 2 MOA dot (about as small as I would go for a close range battle carbine) that offers a slight sighting advantage (precision wise) over 4 MOA dots while still being able to be picked up in harsh lighting environments.  Like most of Aimpoint’s other RDS, it is waterproof and offers excellent battery life; stated as over 1 year with the 1/3N battery the sight uses.  With an MSRP of $393, this places it at the lower-end of the Aimpoint price spectrum and is sure to be a great seller.

Stay tuned for future updates on this RDS as we wait in line for a DEMO model.   :)

Stay Safe,

-Gúru Chia
